Description
Joon motivates children and teenagers to complete real-life tasks by connecting their progress to an exciting video game. Parents assign tasks like brushing teeth, doing homework, or feeding the dog — and when kids complete them, they earn rewards inside the game that help them care for magical creatures and unlock new adventures.
Trusted by over 500,000 families to build routines, responsibility, and independence.
Why Joon Requests Special Permissions:
To help you manage screen time and ensure that kids & teenagers stay focused, Joon includes a Parental Control feature that can limit access to specific apps until certain tasks are completed. These features are optional and require the following Android permissions:
* Foreground Service Permission
We use this to run a background monitoring service that ensures selected apps remain locked while the child/teen is playing or until tasks are completed. This service needs to remain active even if the app is not open.
Required for: Actively blocking apps in the background while the device is in use.
* App Usage Access
This lets Joon detect which app is currently open, so we can determine which apps to block.
Required for: Detecting and blocking access to selected apps.
* Accessibility Service
We use Accessibility services to improve the reliability of app blocking, particularly on certain Android versions or manufacturers like Samsung.
Required for: Ensuring blocked apps cannot be opened, especially on devices where Usage Access alone is not sufficient.
* Device Admin Access
This allows Joon to restart itself and resume app monitoring after the device reboots, ensuring consistent parental controls.
Required for: Keeping blocking active after restarts.
We respect your family's privacy.
Joon does not collect or share your family's app usage data. All permissions are used strictly for enforcing screen time limits that you configure, and all monitoring stays local on your device.
